This article in the British Dental Health Foundation explains the new “European Alert Mechanism” covering the European Economic Area. The system means that Europe wide alerts are issued where a dental care professional is prohibited, suspended or restricted from practicing.
The system, which came into effect on the 18th of January means that an alert will be issued within three days of a Dental Care Practitioner being suspended.
Victoria Brown, solicitor in the Company and Commercial / Healthcare and Dentists team comments; “This will act as a protective mechanism for patients and recruiting practices. Practices will be able to take advantage of any relevant warnings or information as compiled by regulators in each European country and protect their patients and reputation as a result.” You can read the full article from The British Dental Health Foundation in here.
